Black Women and the music industry from A-Z

When talking about music, movies, and T.V., it is all dominated by white men. But, I'm here to let you all know that women play a huge role in all three of those things, especially black women. I am specifically here to talk about music.

I'm going to talk about black women that are currently in the music industry and how they are going to be the face of the future for this Women's History Month. And what better way to show you by starting off with artists whose name begins with the letter A and finish with an artist name that begins with a Z.

A. Ari Lennox-Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter. Her debut album is named Shea Butter Baby and it came out in May of 2019. Lennox's music is in the genres of Contemporary R&B, Neo Soul, and Soul Music. Check out Ari's previous EP Pho which is available on all streaming services and same for Shea Butter Baby.

B. Bahja Rodriguez- Bahja Rodriguez is an American Singer. Rodriguez used to be in a group named The OMG Girlz and she continued to make music. Rodriguez debut album is named It Gets Better and it came out in 2015. Rodriguez's music is in the genres of R&B/Soul. C. Chloe x Halle- Chloe and Halle is a grammy nominated American duo made of two sisters. The Two of Us is the duos debut album which was released by Beyonce's record label, Parkwood Entertainment in 2017. D. Doja Cat- Doja Cat is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Amala is Doja's debut album and it came out in 2018. E. Ella Mai- Ella Mai is an English singer and songwriter. Mai's debut album is her self-titled album, Ella Mai and it came out in October 2018. H. H.E.R- H.E.R is an American singer and songwriter. H.E.R gained a lot of recognition by being on Disney's Next Big Thing. I. IAMDDB- IAMDDB is a British rapper and singer based in the United Kingdom. IAMDDB's debut album is Hoodrich Vol. 3.  and it came out in 2017. N. Normani is an American singer and dancer. Normani previously auditioned for The X Factor in 2012 and became a crucial part of the group, Fifth Harmony. Fifth Harmony disbands and Normani became a solo artist and dropped amazing hits like "Dancing with a Stranger" Ft. Sam Smith, "Motivation"," Love Lies" with Khalid, and "Waves" Ft. 6LACK. O. Omerretta The Great- Omerretta The Great is a musical artist. Omerretta The Great debut album is Black Magic: A Dose of Reality and it came out in 2016. Omerretta's music is in the genre of Hip-Hop/Rap. P. Princess Nokia- Princess Nokia is an American singer and actor of Puerto Rican descendant.  Nokia's debut album is 1992 Deluxe and it came out in 2017.
