Hey you all! I'm coming out from under my rock to give you all a blog post. I do want to extend an apology because I have been M.I.A. We are all in the middle of a crazy time and we are all still trying to manage so I commend myself and you all for keeping the faith, remaining safe, social distancing, and keeping yourselves happy, mentally and physically because not all people can say that they are.

Before we jump into my top 10 albums of 2020. I just want to let you guys know that you all have people that care about you and love you, so, reach out to a loved one or a friend. I highly recommend reaching out to a counselor or a therapist if you have a heavy heart or mind. I also want to throw in yoga, mediation, and/or prayer, just to connect with yourselves, your mind, & God.

Also try to get back to doing things you used to do or try being creative, don't give up on yourself or the things you love to do because we are in the middle of a pandemic and things are coming across as very depressing.

I've been dealing with regaining control over my mind and getting back to doing the things I love and talking to a counselor, journaling, and spending a lot of time with myself has helped me not even get back to the same mentality but, someplace even better. I just wanted to let you all know that and I want you all to know that I am here as well.

One of the many things that have been very helpful for me during this pandemic would have to be music! I know I'm always posting something regarding music so, expect some different content but, honestly... I can't help it. In honor of the New Year rolling around

I've decided to create a list of my favorite albums that came out this year. You all still have time to give these wonderful albums a listen and to ride the same wave as me. Therefore, without any further ado, let's get into the tunes.

Favorite songs: "None of Your Concern (feat. Big Sean)," "Speak," & "B.S. (feat. H.E.R)."

Genres: Rhythm and blues and Soul music

Release date: March 6, 2020

To start us off, we have Jhené Aiko. Jhené dropped her third studio album titled Chilombo in March of this year. Chilombo has 20 songs on it with features from artist such as Big Sean, H.E.R, Future, Miguel, Nas & many more.

Jhené also did fans a huge favor when she dropped her deluxe edition of Chilombo later this year adding nine more songs to her album and adding features with artist such as Kehlani, Mila J, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, & Wiz Khalifa.

I remember when Jhené dropped her album. It was right before the virus started to get serious and I was still at college waiting to go on Spring break. I was actually in the middle of writing a blog post when I was listening to her album.

This album has a lot of great songs on it, it speaks volumes and it's also good for you. Jhené gave her crystals and bowls a go with this album and it most definitely sounds soothing. Any of her music makes me relax and makes me feel like I'm floating.

Favorite songs: "Only Fan. (with Jacques)," "Forfeit. (feat. Lucky Daye)," & "Honest."

Genre: R&B/Soul

Release date: April 3, 2020

The second person on this list would be Kiki also know as Kiana Ledé. Kiana dropped her first studio album KIKI in April of this year.

KIKI have a track list of 17 songs and those songs includes features from artists such as Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, 6LACK, Moneybagg Yo, BIA, & many more. Kiana also did fans a favor and dropped a deluxe edition of KIKI adding more songs and other artists such as Ant Clemons & Gary Clark Jr.

I started listening to Kiana's music when I heard her single "Ex" from her EP titled Selfless and after that I enjoyed hearing her voice, her hitting those notes, & her singing about things that are completely relatable.

Favorite Songs: "Forgive Me," "Ungodly Hour," & "Busy Boy."

Genre: Contemporary R&B

Release date: June 12, 2020

This sisterly duo is third on my list. Chloe & Halle dropped their second studio album Ungodly Hour, this summer in June. Ungodly Hour have a track list of 13 songs.

The sisters dropped a song with a feature from Mike WiLL Made-It & Swae Lee & later in the year, Chloe & Halle dropped the remix of "Do It" with City Girls, Doja Cat, & Mulatto.

Chloe & Halle dropping their sophomore album was highly anticipated for me. I'm always excited to see what these two have up there sleeves and not because they are signed to Beyoncé's record label, because they are young black women that are going through the same things that I'm going through. Relationships, friendships, anxiety, & etc.

It's nice to hear relatable music especially from young women that are in the same age group as you and they look like you as well.

Favorite songs: "In The Party," "Weak," & "May I."

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Release date: July 24, 2020

Fourth on this list we have the Alabama rapper Flo Milli. Flo Milli dropped her debut mixtape Ho, why is you here? this Summer in July. This mixtape holds 12 songs and some of her songs that were released in 2019 or early 2020 like "Beef FloMix," "In The Party," & "Like That Bitch."

I listened to a couple of Flo Milli's songs and I was intrigued when I heard "In The Party" and when I seen the music video. I was excited to hear that she dropped a mixtape.

I was extremely excited because she was another black female rapper joining the game and a lot of people I knew and a lot of people on social media were excited to hear her drop the mixtape. I am really excited to see and hear what 2021 will bring Flo Milli.

Favorite songs: "Big Boss (Interlude)," "Jaguar," & "Touch Me."

Genres: R&B/Soul

Release date: August 7, 2020

Fifth on this list is Victoria Monét. Victoria have became one of my favorite artist and her EP Jaguar, has become one of my favorite albums period. Victoria dropped Jaguar this Summer in August. Jaguar track list consists of nine songs.

Jaguar includes features with Khalid & SG Lewis. Victoria also did fans a favor by making a remix for one of fans favorites song "Touch Me," by adding singer Kehlani to it.

I started listening to Victoria late last year and I fell in love with her music. All about empowering women, being open about your sexuality, and being sexual period.

I'm glad a lot of people knows who she is other than being the person that makes music for everyone else, she creates her own music and it is beautifully crafted. I can't wait for her to drop the next part of Jaguar.

Favorite songs: "Roots (feat. JID & Charlie Wilson)," "Compensating (feat. Young Thug)," & "My Reality."

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Release date: August 7, 2020

Next up we have Aminé. Aminé dropped his sophomore album Limbo this Summer in August. Limbo have a track list of 14 songs,

Limbo includes features from artist like JID, Charlie Wilson, Young Thug, slowthai, Vince Staples, Summer Walker, & Injury Reserve. Aminé also did fans a favor by dropping a deluxe edition of Limbo adding seven new songs and the music videos for four songs.

When I seen that Aminé dropped a new album, I knew I had to give it a listen because when I tell y'all I wear out his song "Caroline," I mean it.

This was an extremely enjoyable album to listen to and I have captions for days with this one. It was also extremely humbling to hear this album. Aminé have an amazing voice so, listening to his music makes things a lot more soothing and calming.

Favorite songs: "Guard Your Heart (feat. Anderson .Paak, Earlly Mac, & Wale), "Time In," & The Baddest."

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Release date: September 4, 2020

Another spectacular artist and a Detroit native is. Big Sean. Big Sean dropped his highly anticipated, fifth studio album, Detroit 2, this fall.

Detroit 2 have 21 songs and one music video. Detroit 2 also have features with artists like Nipsey Hussle, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Jhené Aiko, Dwele, Travis Scott, TWENTY88, Tee Grizzley, Kash Doll, Cash Kidd, Eminem, 42 Dugg, Boldy James, Drego Royce da 5'9," Payroll, & more.

I was waiting on hearing this album especially after hearing about a lot of the things Big Sean was dealing with mentally. This album without a doubt is a comeback album. I felt like this album was him showing his self that he does go harder than his demons.

I love listening to this album because of the nostalgic vibes it gives with the "Story by..." and how it pushes me to go harder than my demons.

Favorite songs: "I'm Ready For You," "Outta Time (feat. Drake)," "Keep Doing What You're Doing."

Genre: R&B/Soul

Release date: October 2, 2020

We have another artist who I was extremely excited about dropping an album this year and that is Bryson Tiller.

Bryson dropped his third studio album, ANNIVERSARY in honor of the five year anniversary of his debut studio album, TRAPSOUL. Bryson dropped this album with 10 songs and with a feature from the 6 God, Drake.

Bryson is one of my favorite artists to listen too and when I found out he was dropping an album later this year... I went nuts. It was a beautiful sight to see all of the people on Twitter come together for something special like him dropping another album. I was also excited for him to let the haters know that he is going to continue making music like how he wants to make music so quit asking for another TRAPSOUL.

Favorite songs: "motive (with Doja Cat)," "west side," & "pov."

Genres: Pop music, Trap music, Rhythm & blues, & Contemporary R&B

Release date: October 30, 2020

Another one of my favorite artists have made my list and that is the queen of pop, Ariana Grande. Ariana dropped her sixth studio album Positions this fall, in October. Ariana dropped Positions and it has 14 songs & it includes features from artists like Doja Cat, The Weekend, & Ty Dolla $ign.

Anything Ariana drops, I'm here for it, I know it's going to be a banger and majority of these songs on this album was. I'm excited for 2021 to get things in order for her to maybe go on tour because I would love to attend another one of her concerts.

Favorite songs: "Do It On The Tip (feat. City Girls & Hot Girl Meg), "Freaky Girls (feat. SZA)," & "Intercourse (feat. Popcaan & Mustard)."

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Release date: November 20, 2020

The Hot Girl coach, Megan Thee Stallion dropped her highly anticipated debut album, right before the holidays. Megan dropped her album Good News with 17 songs and the album includes features with artists like DaBaby, Lil Durk, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Beyoncé, & Young Thug.

Megan Thee Stallion have become one of my favorite female rappers to listen too. Her music is extremely raw and authentic and I feel like she is a genuine female that just wants to make music and make genuine friends in this business and with being a celebrity.

I am also glad that she opened up about her shooting incident with the intro song "Shots Fired," and she said everything that she had to say and she left it at that. You all should 100% expect Instagram captions from me with this album and me just singing the lyrics to any song out of nowhere.

I'm always excited to hear Megan's new music and new business ventures that she's apart of.

And just like that, we're done with my top 10 albums of 2020. It was not my intent to bash any other artists and their music, these were just albums that I was really looking forward to hear and they have become albums that are apart of my daily routine.

Go ahead and drop some of your favorite albums, EP's, & songs that came from this chaotic year. I hope you all continue to remain safe and healthy and I'll see you all in the New Year! :)
