This post is for my journalism 339 class. I'm going to talk about social media and social justice. This is going to be a reflective piece and I will express my opinion about social justice and social media. For starters, I believe that social media is a great outlook. It allows people to learn, connect with other people all around the world, find out what's happening in the world and so much more.

One of the cool things about social media is that it keeps people in the know. That is the biggest thing it has been able to do with everything that has been going on with social justice movements like The Black Lives Matter movement. Therefore, that's how social media and social justice reflect on one another. It's pretty easy to keep up with your own state and it can be fairly hard as well. It can be pretty hard to know what's happening in other states but, social media plays a big role in people all over the world finding out what's happening.

Me personally, I found out about a lot of police brutality acts not only due to the news but due to social media like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook and it was cool to be in the know but as time progressed it started to get frustrating, overwhelming, and disheartening to see people that look like you, literally losing their lives because of the color of their skin.

Another cool thing about social justice and social media are that due to frustrating things like police brutality people from different states and different areas provide places where they will be protesting. That allows people to be in the know and allows people to go to places and protest and demand equality (even though that is something that should be given.)

When a lot of social justice acts were happening last summer, I enjoyed being on social media sometimes. Social media provided links to gofundme accounts, links to help bail people out of jail for protesting and it also provided a lot of comedic relief. A lot of people call the funny side of Twitter "Black Twitter," and they made my Summer way funnier even in extremely dark times.

We all know All Lives don't matter until Black Lives Matter. Of course, it is extremely hard to go back in time and look at all of the things the Black community had to go through but, it is extremely inspiring and motivating. To be willing to fight for our futures and demand equality, It makes me and a lot of other people excited for the future and how the future generations will respond to all of that as well.

Tell me what you guys think in the comments below about social media and social justice!
