Hey guys! I know it has been a minute since I've been here but, I'm excited to be back! Being quarantined with my family has been pretty... chaotic but it has given me a lot of time to reflect and make me realize that I am at a huge advantage just to be quarantined. I understand that you all wanna go out and do ratchet stuff with your friends but please continue to be safe and healthy. Before we go any further I want you all to know that a lot of you are privileged due to the circumstances therefore stay home, wear a mask when you can, and if you live in Michigan listen to what Big Gretch is saying. I'm proud of y'all that stayed in for these past months and y'all that are helping to flatten the curve!
I wanted to make this post to once again get you guys hip to some music I'm currently listening to and some artist you guys may not know about. These are songs that I listen to daily but, I think they are great songs to get you guys hype this summer and they are my favorite songs to get me hype during this hot season. Without any further ado, let's get into the tunes!
p.s. click the artist to follow and click the song to listen!
The first song to start us off is "Ass Like That" by the hitmaker herself, Victoria Monét. I feel like not too many people are familiar with Victoria but, she didn't get the name hitmaker from me for no reason. She helped write many of your favorite artist's songs. Artists like Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Meek Mill, T.I, Chris Brown, Kanye West, and Nas.
Ass Like That is a song that will put you in a good mood. This song goes on any hype playlist and it deserves a gold star. No matter how big or small your ass is... he wanna know how you got an ass like that! Be on the lookout for Victoria's newest album, Jaguar, dropping August 7, 2020.
The second song on this list is "B.S." by Jhené Aiko. Can you blame me for adding this song to my list? I think B.S. is a great song for us young women. A reminder that it's okay to live your life, what's the rush on commitment? And a reminder that it's okay to date multiple people at the same time. And a great song period.
When a guy does you wrong and you had enough, it's okay to be back on your bullshit. While you're back on your bullshit, stream Chilombo.
The next song on this list is "Forgive Me" by Chloe x Halle. The good sis's did a 180! They went from watch out world I'm grown now to so forgive me, 'cause I'm not teary! Chloe x Halle did it with this album and the charts are saying so! Don't even get me started with the album cover and the visuals they've been providing in their music videos
Their album has so many songs that are great summer bops that you can vibe to anywhere and some of their songs on this album are very empowering and they will undoubtedly put you in an even better mood. If you wanna do a 180 like Chloe x Halle, stream Ungodly Hour.
Next up, we have "No Guidance" by Chris Brown. I think it wouldn't be a complete list if I didn't add No Guidance. This song is a summer song, literally. This is a hype song. This is a song you will hear being played in the club, at a party, or in the car next to you while you're going down the street. The thing with No Guidance is that it's a magnetic song, you're going to like it. No ifs, and, or buts. I don't know if you guys are going to like it more than my mom though...
If you a lil hot girl, if you a lil sweetie, stream Indigo.
The next song is "Note to Self" by Mariah the Scientist. I think that it's okay to have that one song that can be a trigger and get you in your feelings real quick and Note to Self might be that one. This song prepares you for the album. It's basically a warning.
Mariah the Scientist is a new artist to step out on the scene but her music will hit you a little deep. If you need a new artist to listen to, stream Master by Mariah the Scientist.
Next up we have Tina Snow herself, Megan Thee Stallion and the song I'm adding on this list is "Realer". Realer always gets me heated and ready for a party or a night out with my friends. I think Realer is a great addition to any hype or summer playlist because it's going to get you turnt. There are so many songs Megan has that will get you and your homegirls feeling some kind of way but Realer is the one for me.
If you keep it keep realer than real, keep streaming the "Savage Remix"
No surprise that I got Doja Cat on this list. Doja has been an artist that I started listening to a lot this year. I really like her music because she doesn't care. Her or Megan The Stallion has no filter when it comes to talking about sex or relationships. We can thank Lil Kim for that.
Rules is one of the many songs I listen to on repeat because it has a good beat and it doesn't have any filter.
If you just want to get hype, listen to Hot Pink by Doja, you won't be disappointed.
The next song I have on this list is "Sue Me" by Wale. I love this man so much. I think that Wale is such a great artist and sometimes I feel like he doesn't see what a lot of his fans see.
Sue Me is a brilliant song. I'm a black woman and me listening to this song doesn't do anything but make me enjoy being black and I wouldn't change that for anything.
If I'm being honest, there aren't any bad songs on that album. I'll just let y'all stream Wow... That's Crazy and be the judges of that.
The next artist I'm bringing to the table is a new artist named Yung Baby Tate. I heard her song "That Girl" while I was watching an episode of Insecure... still can't believe Condolavirus is having our boys baby! Anywho, this song will make you feel like that chick which indeed, you are.
Don't let no one tell you any different because you're the hot girl, you're the it girl, you are that girl. Stream Girls by Yung Baby Tate!
Our last and final song I'm adding to this list is "Whip It" by Bia. First time I ever discovered Bia would have to be when I was listening to Kali Uchis and Bia featured on her song "Miami"
Bia is an underrated artist and another artist that have no filter and we love to see it.
If you need a song to get you feeling yourself. Whip It is the song you need. You and your homegirls can get real lit to this song.
So, there you have it, 10 songs to get y'all hot this summer. Before I continue closing out I want to shine some light on my community and that is the black community. Many black men and women have been losing their lives due to police brutality, many black men and women have been falsely charged with crimes they did not commit and many white men and women are being racist towards people of color and us black men and women.
I want to leave links below allowing you all to enlighten yourselves about what me and my people are going through and what it's like to be black in America. I will also leave petitions down below that you all can sign and GoFundMe links you guys can donate to, to help black families that lost their loved one due to racism and/or you all can help donate towards funeral fundings or help bail someone out.
All lives don't matter until Black Lives Matter. You all stay safe and healthy! Keep protesting, signing petitions, and donating. Remember No Justice, No Peace...
